Let's first understand what is social distancing as this is need of hour for reducing Coronavirus outspread. Social distancing is purposefully maintaining a distance between people, places, events or all social activities so as to avoid widespread of this deadly virus. In simple words, social distancing is staying safe at home with minimal exposure to other people or environment outside of home. This would mean to shop online rather than going to malls, hence, it will expose you to less people and help in breaking the chain of spreading virus.

Things Needed: 

Paper and pen or electronic device to write and yes not to miss out, enthusiasm to pour your heart into paper, Coffee or other beverages (optional)

You may think, it's not easy but it's not difficult either. Do not target writing a book. Keep it simple. Try embossing your life journey on a piece of paper, chapter wise. You must have shared so many incidents of your childhood with your friends or near and dear ones. You can start writing those incidents as a chapter with a funny/interesting caption. That's it. It's doable, isn't it?

If you want to take baby steps then start blogging. And if you start getting interest in blogging then you can go for Big Bang approach of writing a book. Advantage of blogging is that instead of writing different chapters of book revolving around one central theme, you can write different blogs covering variety of topics. So, it's upto you which approach you want to follow.

Last option on this topic to stay positive during Coronavirus Outspread is reading a book i.e. if it still seems to be difficult for you or you are not interested in writing a book then you can start reading a book. There are so many genre's available to read from like Fiction, Self-Help, Biographies etc. You can get some of books on internet as well. You can learn so much from Biographies or Auto-Biographies where authors have shared summary/learnings of their life. Even if you least 1% from one book, you should pat yourself on your back. If you are an impatient one, start with short stories.

What is Meditation?

As rightly said in the quote, meditation is not to control your thoughts or emotions rather it helps in stop needing you control it. Imagine a day when you are yourself. I know you are always yourself, the point which I am trying to say is there is no thought bothering you, which necessarily means that you are not bothered. Hence, you are at peace. Meditation teaches you how to be at peace. 

As of now, our life is like an aeroplane. Our target is to reach one place. Once we reach our destination, our target changes and then we start preparing ourself for next destination. Thus, we keep on changing targets and running all the time. Where is the peace my dear friend? Meditation does not guarantee peace but it will slow down the pace of life which is very much needed. It's like you are servicing your vehicle. Good news is that it does not take much skill to learn meditation. You can start at home and seeing current situation, this can be one of way to stay positive during Coronavirus outspread.

What is Introspection? 

Sometimes it happens with us, we are driving a car and we hear some noise. What we do? We stop the car and inspect source of that noise. Similarly, introspection is stopping by and see inside what's going on, what is right, what is wrong?

Introspection is like reading hidden book which has every detail about you i.e. it helps in self-awareness. Self-awareness in turn can help you in transforming your life.

Introspection help us in knowing ourself better, connect with our inner soul which in turn helps us in differentiating between right and wrong. How many times have we tried to understand ourself? Very rarely. As on today, if you want to take a decision, there are so many data points which you can easily get on internet, your friends will suggest you for taking particular decision but you should listen to yourself i.e. your heart. And this is where Introspection helps you and comes into picture.

As per me, 

If you are forced to do something which you do not like, it won't work for you. But if you do something which you like then you will enjoy even if forced.


If we listen to our inner self closely, we will realise there is a guiding voice. Meditation and Introspection will help us connect and listen to this better.

Things Needed:

Pots, soil, seeds, water and lot of motivation

What can be more soothing to eyes than to watch a lovely flower early morning. Sometimes, I am in awe that how colourful and beautiful flowers are. There are so many different types flowers in this world, some are small, some are big, some are colourful, some are fragrant and the list is endless. In addition to flowers, vegetables which we eat, have you imagined life without vegetables. That too different types of vegetables with different taste, different colours, size etc. 

Gardening is something which you can start at home if you have interest in it. You can choose flowers to grow or vegetables to grow i.e. you can start kitchen garden at home. You can even start home composting i.e. converting vegetable waste at home into compost. Process is so simple and you get organic compost at home. What more can you expect?

Gardening is very relaxing too. That's the reason it comes to my mind as a way to stay positive during Coronavirus outspread.

One of the practical question is, when I am not stepping out of home, where do i get the things needed. Go and hunt for some old containers, lying in the store room, not used for months. fetch some soil from your backyard. Get the seeds from the veggies you already have, capsicum, tomatoes. Take some spices seeds like fenugreek or coriander seeds to grow them. As you start on this journey, the ideas will come up. Paint the pots and have some fun time too, with some real work of gardening.

Things Needed:

Staying at home, openness and receptivity. 

Yes, you guessed it right. It's family time. Let's be honest. How much time do we really spend with family. This is the opportunity to spend lot of time together with family. From social distancing point of view, you need to stay at home. Be creative. Play indoor games with kids. You can start playing games which you use to play when you were a child. Or make a surprise breakfast for family. Make sure that breakfast is really very good and it does not surprise (or shock) you as well. Make use of technology, have video call with relatives, family friends, etc. Watch movies at home. There are so many things you can do by staying at home. 

This also helps to build strong relationship. Try expressing your love, thanking your beloved ones. Couples can start painting together. Do not concentrate on outcome of painting but concentrate on having fun during painting. You never know, some master piece can be created by you.

Some open space at home, some household items depending upon your creativity.

This is one of the way to stay healthy and at the same time to stay positive during Coronavirus outspread. When you are healthy, your immunity is very good and it matters a lot. Use your creativity to make Gym at home without use of machines. 

Warm up can be done easily at home with no need of any machines. For lifting exercises, you can use weight available at home, some packed stuff not unpacked yet. May be some lifts of your kid, and surely the kid will also enjoy it. You can do brisk walk at home. You can do Yoga which is one of the best way to start your day. I mean if you want to do some exercise at home you will definitely find a way to workout at home. 

Just imagine, how in ancient days, people used to remain healthy. They used to work so hard, hence, all calories were easily burnt. But now, there is imbalance of calorie intake and calorie consumption. Due to this imbalance, we need to workout to maintain. This is one of the reason for going to Gym. Some people want to build their body, make it muscular. And there are many other reasons. But I want to draw your attention to the point when in ancient days, people were able to maintain their body in addition to being muscular and that too without any machine then in this age why can't we? We have so many resources in our hands now, we can definitely Gym without machine. 

This is last way which I can think to stay positive during Coronavirus outspread.

These ways will just give you some idea and everyone has their own choices but going through this list might trigger something in your mind which you were thinking to do since long but always complained about time constraints. Now, you have time as your commutation time will be saved. Make use of this time and instead of thinking about Coronavirus, think it as an opportunity and find different ways to stay positive.
